Climate change - State of the science 2009

Storm Chasers 2 - HD

Following up on their successful 2007 season, the Storm Chasers returned with new vehicles, new teams and new tactics. The 2008 tornado season nearly set a record for tornado outbreaks and our determined band of chasers pulled out all the stops to break their own records for intercepts. Britains Biggest Storm - HD

In October 1987 Britain was hit by the biggest storm on record – it claimed 19 lives, was four times as big as a hurricane, had wind speeds of 110mph and caused a billion pounds worth of damage. And we had no warning it was coming.  Now, 20 years to the day since it struck, ITV1’s Night of the Storm uses reconstructions, computer graphics and actual footage to recapture the moment the country was hit by the worst weather on record.

The Ultimate Guide To Extreme Weather - HD

Sun, wind, and rain are basic to life, but sometimes the weather is more than just that. Sometimes it's stronger, violent. The wind becomes a tornado, the rain a hurricane. The Earth's atmosphere, for a moment, makes it uninhabitable. And there's nothing we can do about extreme weather but try to predict it, prepare for it and hope that it never happens here.

The Day The Oceans Boiled - HD

Recently, the world has experienced some unusual and destructive weather. The media blame global warming, but influential voices around the world are expressing scepticism about the link between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. By placing recent climatic history in the context of 4 billion years on Earth, The Day the Oceans Boiled examines the real strength of the scientific arguements behind the global warming hypothesis; and investigates just how great the risk of a flip to an entirely new, and possibly uninhabitable climate really is.
